Cryovial®: A guided tour of our cryopreservation products.

Have you ever named a Kleenex® handkerchief, even if it wasn’t a Kleenex? Or, have you ever called a cryogenic storage tube a Cryovial®, when it wasn’t of the Simport® brand? I am pleased to announce that Simport® is the inventor of the Cryovial® product, which is why the ® symbol is added. So, when you hold a Simport® Cryovial® in your hands, you have the original product! That’s pretty impressive!

There are a lot of impressive details in the Simport® Cryovials. First, if we take a closer look at this unique product, we see that the cap and the tube have the same expansion coefficient. This allows the closed tube to maintain its tightness even at temperatures as extreme as those surrounding liquid nitrogen. This property derives from the raw material at the origin of the tube and the cap, both of which are polypropylene.

Polypropylene? Let’s talk about it. The resin used in the production process is virgin, so there are no additives. This is an essential asset of Cryovial®, especially for long-term storage. Indeed, the presence of additives can cause the tube to deteriorate over time, causing contaminants to your samples.

Do you care about your samples? So do we! This is why Simport® does not spare in resin and manufactures tubes with thick and resistant walls. As always, Simport® stands out from its competitors for the quality of its products.

Decorations: Accessories for The Cryovial®

Around the Cryovial® has been built a complete series of complementary products that combine utility with pleasure. Cryovial® plugs can receive CAPINSERT™. Simport® offers eleven different CAPINSERT™ colors for quick and efficient identification of your samples when stored in our CryostoreTM storage boxes.

Another notable feature of the Cryovial® is its ability to stand with a skirt at the bottom of the tube. This skirt fits beautifully into our workstation rack which allows you to lock the tube. Thus, you have your hands free to hold the cap and pipette simultaneously while avoiding contamination and waste of your precious time. 

The backend: Cryovial® Applications and Related Products

Certified sterile and free of ARNase, ADNase, DNA and pyrogen, Cryovials® are designed for the storage of liquid samples. Because liquids usually build up volume when frozen, let me share the volume capacity of Cryovials® here. As a general rule, we advise you not to exceed 80% of the maximum tube volume.

For solid tissue storage, we strongly recommend the use of CryoSette™. The CryoSette™’s spacious dimensions ensure easy and secure storage of your fabric samples. Otherwise, they would be damaged when pressed against the walls of a Cryovial®, and would be very difficult to remove from the tubes once frozen. In short, Simport® has everything you need for safe and sustainable storage of your most valuable samples. We care about their conservation!
